Recreate the famous, buttery, and savory seasoned rice from Texas Roadhouse right in your kitchen. This easy copycat recipe uses simple pantry spices to deliver that signature restaurant flavor and fluffy texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice, uncooked
  • 1 3/4 cups chicken broth (or water plus 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon base)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter with the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the uncooked rice to the pan and stir constantly for 3 to 5 minutes until the edges of the grains turn translucent. This toasts the rice for better texture.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and dried parsley. Stir to combine the spices.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  5. Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover the saucepan tightly with a lid, and simmer for 18 minutes without lifting the lid.
  6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for an additional 10 minutes. Do not lift the lid during this resting period.
  7. Remove the lid and fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the water used for the broth with liquid chicken bouillon base.
  • You can use a rice cooker; combine all ingredients in the cooker and use the standard white rice setting.
  • This seasoned rice pairs perfectly with steak or grilled chicken for a complete steakhouse side dish experience.
