Make this easy, creamy sausage cream cheese dip for your next gathering. This simple recipe uses only three main ingredients and works well on the stovetop or in a slow cooker, making it a perfect game day appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage, casings removed
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chilies (Rotel), undrained

Instructions

  1. If using the stovetop, cook the breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until fully browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. If using a slow cooker, place the browned sausage into the slow cooker insert.
  3. Add the softened cream cheese and the can of diced tomatoes and green chilies (with liquid) to the skillet (if using stovetop) or the slow cooker.
  4. For the stovetop method, stir constantly over low heat until the cream cheese is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and hot.
  5. For the slow cooker method, stir the ingredients together until combined. Cook on low for 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until hot and creamy.
  6. Transfer the hot sausage cream cheese dip to a serving bowl. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, crackers, or sturdy vegetables.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use spicy breakfast sausage instead of mild.
  • If the dip thickens too much while serving, add one tablespoon of milk or heavy cream to restore creaminess.
  • This recipe is naturally low in carbohydrates, making it a good keto friendly sausage dip option.
