Ingredients
Scale
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
12 small corn or flour tortillas
1 cup shredded green cabbage
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro (for shrimp and garnish)
2 limes, cut into wedges (for juice and serving)
For the Avocado Crema:
1 ripe avocado
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Prepare the Avocado Crema: Combine the avocado, Greek yogurt, lime juice, and salt in a small food processor or blender. Blend until completely smooth. Set aside.
Season the Shrimp: In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat. Squeeze the juice of half a lime over the hot shrimp and toss with half of the chopped cilantro.
Warm Tortillas: Warm the tortillas according to package directions, either in a dry skillet, microwave, or wrapped in foil in the oven.
Assemble Tacos: Layer each warm tortilla with shredded cabbage, the cooked shrimp, a drizzle of the avocado crema, and a sprinkle of the remaining fresh cilantro.
Serve immediately with extra lime wedges on the side.
Notes
For a spicier taco, add 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the shrimp seasoning mix.
If you do not have Greek yogurt, you can substitute it with sour cream or mayonnaise for the crema, though the calorie count will increase.
To make this a low calorie shrimp taco option, use corn tortillas and skip any added oil when warming them.
