Make this festive Peppermint Espresso Martini for your next holiday gathering. This recipe combines rich espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur, and a cool peppermint finish, topped with a crushed peppermint rim for visual appeal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Freshly Brewed Espresso, cooled
  • 0.5 oz Coffee Liqueur (Kahlua)
  • 0.5 oz Peppermint Schnapps
  • 0.5 oz Irish Cream Liqueur (like Bailey’s)
  • Crushed Peppermint Candies, for rimming
  • 3 Coffee Beans, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rim: Spread crushed peppermint candies onto a small, flat plate. Rub the rim of your chilled martini glass with a lime wedge or a small amount of water, then gently press the rim into the crushed candies to coat. Set the glass aside.
  2. Combine ingredients: Add the vodka, cooled espresso, coffee liqueur, peppermint schnapps, and Irish cream liqueur into a cocktail shaker.
  3. Add ice: Fill the shaker two-thirds full with ice.
  4. Shake well: Close the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds until the shaker is very cold. This creates the necessary foam.
  5. Strain and serve: Double strain the mixture into your prepared martini glass.
  6. Garnish: Place three coffee beans gently on top of the foam for a classic presentation. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use high-quality, freshly pulled espresso for the best flavor and foam structure.
  • If you prefer a less sweet drink, reduce the coffee liqueur slightly.
  • For a chocolate peppermint variation, add 0.25 oz of chocolate syrup to the shaker before mixing.
