Ingredients
Scale
12 cups Rice Chex cereal
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup red and green M&M’s
1/4 cup festive holiday sprinkles
Instructions
Place the Chex cereal in a very large bowl. Set aside.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
Stir the vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture.
Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal in the large bowl. Gently stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
Place the powdered sugar in a large zip-top bag. Add the coated cereal mixture to the bag. Seal the bag and shake until the cereal is completely covered in powdered sugar.
Spread the coated cereal onto a large baking sheet lined with wax paper to cool completely.
Once cool, transfer the cereal to a clean bowl. Add the red and green M&M’s and holiday sprinkles. Gently toss to combine the festive candies.
Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
Notes
You can substitute the M&M’s with crushed peppermint candies for a Peppermint Bark Puppy Chow variation.
For a make-ahead Christmas treat, store the finished mix in mason jars with festive ribbon for easy holiday gifting.
This recipe is a great kid-friendly Christmas snack project; older children can help stir the coated cereal.
