Create an impressive, warm cheese appetizer quickly using puff pastry and a sweet-savory cranberry pecan topping. This easy baked brie recipe is perfect for holiday parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (13-ounce) wheel of brie cheese, cold
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup fig jam or cranberry sauce
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. If using frozen puff pastry, unfold it on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry sheet into a square large enough to fully wrap the brie wheel.
  3. Place the cold brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry square.
  4. Spoon the fig jam or cranberry sauce over the top surface of the brie wheel. Sprinkle the dried cranberries and chopped pecans evenly over the jam layer.
  5. Bring the edges of the puff pastry up and over the brie, sealing the seams tightly at the top to fully enclose the cheese. Trim any excess pastry.
  6. Flip the wrapped brie seam-side down onto the prepared baking sheet. Brush the entire surface of the pastry with the beaten egg wash.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the baked brie rest on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring it to a serving plate. Serve warm with crackers or sliced baguette.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, substitute the cranberry pecan topping with 2 tablespoons of honey and 1/4 cup of walnuts.
  • If you skip the puff pastry, score the top rind of the brie lightly and bake for 10-12 minutes until soft.
  • Prepare the wrapped brie up to 4 hours ahead of time; keep it covered in the refrigerator until ready to bake.
