Cook frozen shrimp directly in your air fryer for perfectly juicy, tender results with crispy edges in under 15 minutes. This simple method requires no thawing and is ideal for fast weeknight meals or appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound frozen raw shrimp (peeled and deveined, tail on or off)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Take your frozen shrimp directly from the freezer. Do not thaw them first. Place the frozen shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Drizzle the oil and seasoning mixture over the frozen shrimp in the basket. Toss the shrimp gently with tongs to coat them evenly with the seasoning.
  4. Arrange the shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overly crowded for best crisping.
  5. Air fry at 390°F (200°C) for 8 minutes.
  6. Open the basket and shake well to flip the shrimp.
  7. Continue to air fry for another 4 to 6 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink, opaque, and cooked through. The total cook time will be between 12 and 14 minutes.
  8. Remove the shrimp immediately and serve as a fast shrimp appetizer or add them to tacos or salads.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, substitute the seasoning blend with 1 teaspoon of Old Bay seasoning or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice after cooking.
  • If your shrimp are very large, they may require 1 to 2 extra minutes of cooking time. Check for doneness by cutting into the thickest piece.
  • This recipe works well for keto air fryer shrimp when using oil and spices only.
  • Cleanup is minimal; line the basket with a parchment paper liner if desired.
